"Or, as we call them in the business, the Fakies."Stephen Colbert is hoping for some recognition from President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday night's Late Show, the CBS host launched his "campaign" for consideration in Trump's "Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards," which the president announced via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.
"You know folks, its awards season," Colbert told his crowd on Wednesday night. "Sunday is the Golden Globes — I'm not nominated don't watch — but on Monday there's an awards show everyone's going to be glued to," the host added, referencing Trump's awards.
"Personally, I'm excited for your Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards," Colbert said to Trump. "Or, as we call them in the business, the Fakies."
To make sure he wouldn't get "snubbed" at Trump's awards, Colbert purchased a billboard in Times Square in New York City for his "For Your Consideration" ad in Trump's awards.
“I’m hoping to be nominated in all categories,” the host said, listing off such distinctions as “fakes dishonesty” and “least Breitbarty.”
