Ex-Manchester United defender tips Arsenal for Premier League glory and Man City to finish only third
Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes the Reds will finish as runners-up in the Premier League this season - but to Arsenal and not Manchester City. The new top flight campaign is little over a week away from starting when City will be aiming to win the title for the sixth year out of the last seven. They travel to Turf Moor to take on promoted Burnley for the season curtain raiser. United take on Wolves at Old Trafford and will be aiming to push on from their third placed finish last season in Erik ten Hag's first campaign as manager. The Dutchman secured the return to Champions League Football to United and won the club's first trophy since 2017 with the Carabao Cup. It was the first part of a Treble-winning season. With the new campaign about to commence, Silvestre has issued his verdict on the sides he believes will be in the top four by the end of the season. The Frenchman believes old club United will progress and be runners-up in the upcoming campaign. But surprisingly, Silvestre has tipped another one of his former sides, Arsenal, to be champions. He thinks that City will only finish third, with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool taking fourth, as he outlined his reasons why he believes the Gunners will claim the title for the first time in 20 years by next May. Speaking to Betting Expert , Silvestre said: “Arsenal will finish first. Second, Manchester United. Third is Manchester City and fourth will be Liverpool. “The fact that Arsenal were challenging last season was a surprise to everyone and even to themselves. “Now that they’ve done that with consistency, being in the first spot for so long, they clearly are title challengers this season. They’ll go for it and they should.” Get United transfer updates on WhatsApp!
