The brand-new competition, launched by the Balmoral Hotel in Belfast, will see young, aspiring chefs from across Ireland compete in a series of culinary challenges to be crowned the island’s next culinary cooking sensation. It will provide talented chefs with an exciting opportunity to put themselves in the spotlight and showcase their talent to some of Ireland’s top industry-recognised chefs and experts. Read more: NI gin distillery ranked in the top five across the UK As well as the all-important title of ‘Ireland’s Next Top Chef’, the winner will receive an amazing array of prizes, including the life-changing chance to be mentored by the finest culinary teams at Michelin-starred restaurants - Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, Liath in Dublin, or The Muddlers Club in Belfast. Damian Gilvary, General Manager at the Balmoral Hotel, said: "Ireland has long been renowned for its rich culinary tradition and has produced some of the world's most talented chefs. “We're excited to work with key partners and sponsors from across the island’s hospitality sector to launch this prestigious competition as we aim to build on this proud legacy by seeking out the best new culinary talent in the country and giving them a platform to showcase their skills. “We believe that Ireland's Next Top Chef has the potential to uncover the next generation of culinary superstars and we can't wait to see what the competitors bring to the table as they aim to be crowned Ireland's Next Top Chef!" Putting the contestants through their paces as judges will be Michelin star chef, Danni Barry, 2023 Great British Menu contestant, Kerry Roper, and BBC's Farm to Feast judge, Joris Minne. West Belfast-based chef Kerry Roper (Image: Submitted) Michelin-starred chefs such as Dylan McGrath and Gareth McCaughey will make guest judge appearances at key stages of the competition to run their eye over the talented group of aspiring chefs. The Grand Finale, scheduled to take place on Thursday 3rd August 2023 in Balmoral Hotel, Belfast, will be contested by the top three chefs from the knock-out stages who will compete against each other to be crowned ‘Ireland’s Next Top Chef’. Damian Gilvary added: “Whether you are an aspiring young chef in a restaurant or a budding home cook, I would encourage you to take part in this outstanding competition to find Ireland’s Next Top Chef. “You just never know how far this competition could take you. It’s a fantastic platform to get your name out there and advance your career in the culinary industry as your food will be sampled by some of Ireland’s most esteemed judges. “It will attract the most talented pool of young chefs on the island, and contestants will be judged purely on their culinary skills, their interpretation of the ingredients, and what delectable dishes they can create when the heat is really on.” It is open to both professional chefs and home cooks with contestants asked to submit a signature three-course menu for judging aimed at qualifying for the live knock-out stages of the competition. The knock-out stages will consist of a series of challenges designed to test the contestants' culinary creativity, agility, flare, and expertise.
