Barclays has announced plans to shut 12 more bank branches across
England and Wales - weeks after confirming 14 were for the chop. The latest closures will take place in August in a further blow for the struggling high street . It comes as the bank cut its opening hours across hundreds of locations from this summer in a major shake-up for customers. Two branches in Birmingham as well as Windsor, Worksop, Biggleswade and Frome are to close in around three months, it has been confirmed. Locals in Brecon, Wales, must now go elsewhere with staff as Diss, Framlingham, Harleston, Wilmslow and Framlingham also at risk of losing their jobs. Customers who need of face-to-face support have a few options if their local branch is shutting. The bank runs pop-up sites and is opening new "banking pods" which are semi-permanent sites that can be moved to different towns and locations based on demand. Barclays currently has 200 pop-up sites and has announced plans to increase this number by another 70, while it also has ten of its "banking pods". You can find your nearest service on the Barclays website . A Barclays spokesperson said: "As visits to branches continue to fall, we need to adapt to provide the best service for all our customers. "Where there is no longer enough demand to support a branch, we maintain an in-person presence though our Barclays Local network, live in over 200 locations, based in libraries, town halls, mobile vans and our new banking pods. "We also support access to cash with our cashback without purchase service, 24-hour deposit-taking ATMs and by working alongside the Post Office and Cash Access
