Six men accused of conspiracy to murder following the death of 44-year-old Ian Staves have appeared in court. Mr Staves was found dead at his home after
police were called to a house in Cherry Lane, Wootton, on September 12 following reports of a concern for safety. He had suffered injuries and a post mortem revealed that they were consistent with the involvement of others. A murder investigation was launched. They are: Nicholas St Clair, 34, of Castle Grove, Hull. Bobby Gibson, 18, of Woodcock Street, Hull. Aaron Windas, 39, of Anlaby Road, Hull. Celestino Furtado, 36, of Waterloo Street, Hull. Jamie Smith, 34, of Skippingdale Road, Scunthorpe. Patrick Smith, 28, formerly of Doncaster. Ian Staves lived in the Lincolnshire village of Wootton (Image: Facebook) The men are charged with conspiracy to murder Mr Staves at Wootton on September 11. They had appeared before Grimsby Magistrates' Court on February 11 after being arrested by the police on February 8. Mr Furtado is also accused of possessing a sawn-off shotgun without a certificate; possessing ammunition, a cartridge containing bullets and another bullet, without a certificate; and possessing a handgun with a barrel less than 12 inches long, a prohibited weapon, on February 8. The cases were adjourned until May 26 for a further hearing. A trial date has previously been fixed for September 4, with a likely time estimate of four to six weeks. The men were all further remanded in custody until the next hearing. After news of the incident, floral tributes were left outside the house paying tribute to Mr Staves.
