police are currently searching the River Freshney for what is thought to be a firearm in Grimsby . One diver from the Regional Marine Search and Rescue Unit is currently in the water close to The Barge pub this morning (Tuesday, March 21), with three vans in attendance. Humberside Police officers are also at the scene. It comes after a number of divers were spotted in the same section of the river on the evening of Saturday, March 18, following the discovery of a firearm. A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Emergency services were in attendance on Saturday 18 March at the River Freshney in Grimsby after a report that what appears to be a firearm has been seen in the mud. "The regional underwater search team are due to attend today (Monday) to search and recover the item in a safe and appropriate manner." Follow the live blog below for updates.
