Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed the return to training of Amad Diallo, with feint hope the
Manchester United loanee could be involved against Luton Town in the Championship on Saturday. Amad has been in fine form for the Black Cats this season, registering eight goals and three assists since penning a season-long loan deal from United last summer. But the 20-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during a 5-1 defeat at home to Stoke City at the start of March, missing a win at Norwich and defeat against Sheffield United. His return to fitness was confirmed by Mowbray and the Reds youngster could be involved in some capacity on Saturday. ALSO READ: United transfer decision could be good news for Amad "A few didn't train today so we'll see tomorrow to see if they're going to be alright," Mowbray said. "Amad trained today so there's a positive for us. "Since I first walked in we have different challenges with different players in different areas, you'll see when the team sheet comes out and you think why isn't he playing? Well it's not for me to tell you the day before a game who's available and who's not available. As always we have challenges but we'll give it our best shot and hopefully be competitive in the game." Amad's continued influence will be pivotal in Sunderland's hopes of securing a top-half finish in their first season back in the Championship. The Black Cats are currently 12th, but sit just eight points off Millwall in the sixth and final play-of place. But Mowbray won't be taking risks with Amad, making the concerning admission that his body 'has almost shut down' due to the demands being placed on him in a 30-plus game campaign thus far. "I think 30-odd games from never having a run of three games on the bounce has proved his body has almost shut down," said the Sunderland boss ahead of the midweek defeat to Sheffield United, which Amad missed. "His hamstrings are really sore and tight. There is no tear and there is no damage. He is just in a place where we need to give him a break and check him out of the equation for a week at the most and then he will finish the season strong, I am sure."
