MULTIPLE people have been hit by a livery cab in Manhattan.
Officials got an initial call about the crash on Liberty Street and Broadway, near Zucotti Park, shortly before 1.30pm today.
Video posted on the internet showed a black vehicle almost entirely on the sidewalk, the front of it completely smashed. Investigators crowded the area around the car as ambulances pulled up to the scene.
There was no immediate word on a possible cause of the crash, nor was it clear how badly any of the victims may have been hurt..
New York authorities said the driver of the vehicle had been detained.
The intersection at Broadway and Liberty is currently closed to traffic.
At least three people were reportedly hit by a Lincoln Town Car.
A law enforcement official said the car appears to have jumped the curb by accident, but the investigation is developing.
An NYPD spokesperson said a preliminary investigation indicates the Lincoln hit one vehicle at Liberty and Broadway, then fled the scene and traveled one block east, where it hit another car and careened up onto the sidewalk, according to NBC.
While just how badly injured those involved are, they appear not to be in a life-threatening state.
The site of the incident is just a few blocks away from One World Trade Centre.
