Champions League rivalDiego Costa has rescinded his Atlético Madrid contract with immediate effect after asking to leave six months early. The striker, whose deal expired next June and who was free to negotiate with other clubs from 1 January, cited personal reasons for wanting to depart.
Costa, whose contract was worth around €8m a year, has not informed Atlético of his destination but, according to the agreement reached, he will have to pay a €15m penalty if he moves to a team in La Liga or the Champions League.
