Football Union investigation found the players had gone out socialising in central
London in the week prior to the game in contravention of the government’s Covid-19 restrictions and that the majority had also given false statements about assorted visits to bars and restaurants.The players involved – Robshaw, Wigglesworth, Alex Lewington, Fergus McFadden, Juan Pablo Socino, Jackson Wray, Calum Clark, Sean Maitland, Tim Swinson, Tom de Glanville, Joel Kpoku, Manu Vunipola and Simon Kerrod – have received bans collectively totalling 85 weeks, with 44 weeks suspended. Fines of up to two weeks salary have also been imposed, with the players required to undertake up to 60 hours of unpaid community service. Wigglesworth will miss Leicester’s next four games while the eight Saracens players are set to commence their bans when the Championship season kicks off.
