BRITISH Transport Police have released two CCTV images of men who they believe may have information about the circumstances around yesterday’s stampede in Oxford Street.
Officers believe an “altercation erupted” between two men at Oxford Circus tube station which the pictured men may have information about.
The appeal for information has come after police yesterday stormed the station after passengers reported hearing “shots fired”.
For an hour and half full-scale terrorist procedures kicked in as roads were blockaded, Tube stations were locked-down, and members of the public were herded into stores.
At luxury department store Selfridge, doors were bolted tight following reports of a crazed gunman on the loose.
However, 90 minutes later it emerged there were no casualties and no gunman.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers had not found any suspects or any evidence of shots being fired at the station in Oxford Street - which has since reopened.
Police initially said they were treating the incident as if it is terror-related - but have now stood the operation down.

Paramedics treated a number of people who suffered injuries leaving the incident at Oxford Circus tube station, discharging seven patients at the scene and taking nine to hospital, London Ambulance Service said.
The massive security operation was indicative of a city on edge – with officers ready to lock down streets at the first sign of terror.

Video from the scene shows panicked commuters and shoppers fleeing the famous shopping strip as emergency services flashed by, with many people screaming and in tears as they hid in nearby shops.
