Be happy: Ramakrishna Mission's mantra to reach primary school students in India
One of the major problems is that children nowadays seem to be growing up stressed and confused because they are not armed with the right tools to face real-life problems and make the appropriate choices. To address this need, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi has developed a unique three-year graded value education program titled The Awakened Citizen Program for students of middle school level in 2014. The program essentially aims to awaken the children so that each one of them can lead a wonderful life full of self confidence or Atma Shraddha. Awakening at the individual level would transform the society and the citizenship values. The program is designed in a discussion oriented manner where the students analyse real life situations and role models. Now a new program called ‘Awakening’ meant for the primary schools is going to be launched. This new program will cater to classes 1-5, and will start in the next academic year. To scale up its value education program also, a full-fledged training centre will be set up by the Ramakrishna Mission in Gurugram. Times of India spoke to Swami Shantatmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi to know about the purpose of the Program.
