The wait is finally over, and this year’s
Oscars nominees have now been announced in full.
On Tuesday afternoon, the fairly unsurprising contenders for the biggest night in cinema were revealed, with Joker leading with 11 nominations, while The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In
Hollywood have 10.
Among the
British nominees are Florence Pugh from Little
Women, Cynthia Eviro from Harriet and 1917 director Sam Mendes.
Joaquin Phoenix, Renée Zellweger,
Brad Pitt and Laura Dern – all of whom have already enjoyed huge success at both the
Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards this year – have also received acting recognition.Regrettably, despite a strong showing from filmmakers like Greta Gerwig and Lulu Wang, no women have been nominated in the Best Director category, as was the case at the Golden Globes and Baftas this year.
