NORTH KOREA was hit with a new set of harsh sanctions from the European Union in an attempt to pressure the rogue state to destroy its World War 3 aspirations.
World War 3 was possibly delayed as Federica Mogherini, Brussels' foreign policy chief, announced the bloc had agreed to slap North Korea with harsher sanctions.
Speaking ahead of the EU Summit, Mrs Mogherini said: "We adopted on Monday tougher sanctions on North Korea, the toughest sanction regime the European Union has in the world.
"Most of the pressure on Pyongyang comes from our side. We hope that this can lead to a peaceful negotiation on denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula."
The EU Council voted to put a complete stop on investment in North Korea and banned the sale of crude oil.
Ministers decided to also slash the amount of money people can send to the DPRK from €15,000 (£13,475) to €5,000 (£3,475).
A European Council statement said: "The ongoing nuclear and ballistic missile-related activities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) represent a serious threat to international peace and security.
"These activities undermine the global non-proliferation and disarmament regime of which the EU has been a steadfast supporter for decades.
"In this context, the EU has implemented the restrictive measures imposed through resolutions of the UN Security Council and has reinforced them through its own measures."
North Korea recently declared that it will not engage in diplomatic negotiations with the US until it has a missile capable of reaching “all the way to the East coast of the mainland US”, according to a new report.
The careless disregarding of negotiations heightens global tensions shortly after the US, Japan and China have all taken measures to increase their stranglehold over the isolationist state.
China announced that it will cut off imports of coal, textiles, seafood and oil shipments to the North in an attempt to show the world is serious about crippling Kim Jong-un’s expanding military programme.
