Josh Waring, the son of Real Housewives of Orange County star Lauri Peterson, has died at the age of 35. His mum confirmed the sad news in an
Instagram post on Saturday. She wrote with a "shattered heart": "No one can ever prepare you for this feeling of such deep loss. Every fiber in my body hurts. Josh fought every single day for most of his adult life, for his life, but this past Sunday, the challenge was too great." There's been no word on his cause of death, but Lauri mentioned her son had a substance abuse disorder in her post. She also thanked "those who have supported me through this journey and offering kind words of encouragement by sharing their stories of living with substance abuse disorder and the many parents that have shared their stories over the years with me about the children they have sadly lost due to this illness," she wrote. In 2022, Josh was charged with possession of meth and fentanyl. Due to the amount of fentanyl in his possession, he was also charged with dealing drugs. The year before that, he was arrested in Lake Forest,
California while driving a rental car that had been reported stolen. During that arrest, he was accused of possessing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with three counts of attempted murder in 2016 and he and his mother Lauri maintained his innocence. He stayed in custody until March 2020 when he was released on parole when he pled guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for his release. While in custody, he was brutally attacked by another inmate with various razors wrapped in towels. Josh needed stitches on his face and 20 staples in his chest. He reportedly punched the guard in the chest at Chapman Global Medical Centre in California. Josh leaves behind a daughter, Kennady, whom Lauri adopted in 2015. Condolences have poured in from Lauri's Bravo co-stars and Andy Cohen himself. "Lauri I am so sorry. This is heartbreaking. You tried so hard to save him, and by sharing Josh’s story you would up educating people around the world about the tragedy of addiction for those who are touched by it," Andy wrote, "May Josh’s memory be a blessing to you always.
