Hack for scrubbing stubborn food stains from hobs without leaving any scratch marks. The kitchen cooker is one of the hardest working fixtures in the home, as it prepares tasty meals every day. But will all that work, there's bound to be some spill over, which can cook into crusty stains on the hob that can be tough to get rid of. Giving them a once over with a scouring pad is the first port of call, but this runs the risk of leaving the pristine metal covered in scratch marks. However, it turns out that one "brilliant" pampering tool can get rid of these stains without leaving any evidence behind. Pumice stones have an abrasive texture that can be used to clean stains (Image: Getty Images) One Mrs Hinch fan was quick to suggest an interesting method - by scrubbing it with a pumice stone - typically used to exfoliate and smoothen rough skin. Not only does she use it for stubborn food stains, but hails it for being effective in other chores They wrote: "Pumice stone won’t scratch they are brilliant in ovens and toilets and surprisingly will not scratch you can buy them on
Amazon or eBay. I do many cleaning jobs and would not be without them." A pumice stone is a type of volcanic rock that forms when lava suddenly cools during an eruption, with a porous, sponge-like appearance. Its abrasive texture makes it an ideal way to scrub excess follicles off the body, particularly the toughest accumulation on the feet. While it is an effective scrubber, it is delicate enough to use on the skin, so it won't leave scratches on other surfaces. Even better, buying a pumice stone won't break the bank, as they go for as little as £2 at Boots. Followers of Mrs Hinch regularly share scrubbing advice to tackle many pesky chores and they have plenty of advice for getting rid of all types of stains. They recently explained how rhubarb can naturally lift marks on pots and pans, with no scrubbing required. Join the Daily Record's
