Liverpool are the new favourites ahead of
Manchester City to win the
Premier League title, according to Opta’s supercomputer. Jurgen Klopp ’s side moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League after they came from behind to seal a 2-1 win over Brighton at Anfield on Sunday . Meanwhile, both City and
Arsenal lost ground on
Liverpool following their goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon . That result has left Arsenal in second place, two points behind Liverpool, while Premier League champions City are in third and three points behind Klopp’s side. Opta’s supercomputer simulates the remainder of the season 10,000 times and as it stands, it now gives Liverpool a 47.7% chance of winning the Premier League title with their remaining nine fixtures – an increase of 12.4% from before the win over Brighton. City are considered second favourites for the title, with their chances reduced from 45.9% to 33.5% after the stalemate with Arsenal on Sunday. Arsenal’s chances of wining their first league title since 2004 remain unchanged at 18.8% after the goalless draw with City.
Pep Guardiola also declared Liverpool as the new Premier League title favourites in his post-match press conference after City were held by Arsenal. Asked if Liverpool are now clear favourites to win the league, Guardiola replied: ‘Yeah, the one who is first is favourite. ‘The second favourite is Arsenal and we are the third.’ Meanwhile, former
Manchester United captain Roy Keane also feels Liverpool are in the driving seat to win the title in Klopp’s final season at Anfield. ‘I think Liverpool, I’d have them favourites,’ Keane told Sky Sports. ‘Arsenal second favourites with their goal difference. City with their injuries and the strain of everything –
