New footage shows ground-based obliterating combat robots. In a video shared to Telegram by Kyiv's 47th Mechanized Brigade, drone specialists successfully target and destroy a
Russian UGV (Uncrewed Ground Vehicle). The ground-drones utilise automatic grenade launchers to take out the Russian combat robots. The attack was made in the Eastern-Ukrainian city of Avdiivka. The city is currently under Moscow's control, captured in mid-February. reported the drones are "likely to have a more prominent role in future fighting."
Moscow has also developed ground drones, including an AI 'Marker' combat
Robot and logistics robot, Zubilo UGV. Both and have invested in uncrewed vehicles, in an attempt to minimise the deaths amongst dangerous missions. Samuel Bendett, an advisor for the CNS (an
American MILITARY think tank), said front lines are continuing to see more and more ground drones. Bendett told Newsweek: "What we will witness is the use of many cheap, light UGVs like those in this video that can be quickly put together, potentially quickly lost if necessary, and quickly replaced. "[But] it's unlikely that large UGVs can appear in this war, at least for the foreseeable future." Bendett went on to explain that the video does not reveal the circumstances of the attack, or whether human soldiers were present alongside the drones. He added: "As more UGVs will enter combat, both sides will try to develop tactics and concepts for integrating them in assault and battlefield operations and take away some of the danger for human fighters."
Russia is also said to be developing flying bombs. recently reported that Russia had obliterated US
missile defence systems in
Ukraine with the new technology. Russia alleges that the Fab-500s are "highly precise" giant bombs, that have the ability to correct their course in mid-air. Russian Captain Vasily Dandykin explained: “We are now using high-explosive bombs FAB-500 and FAB-1500 with a planning and correction module, which fly to a range of 40-50 kilometres. “The same one and a half ton, for example, penetrates several metres of reinforced concrete shelters. In order to counteract our aviation and cover their troops, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forced to pull these scarce Western systems closer to the line of combat." "These complexes did a lot of harm to us when they were used for ambushes, now we 'click' (and destroy) the Patriot SAMs one by one."
