Britain's Got Talent finalist Tom Ball was forced to cancel his honeymoon due to Simon Cowell's request. The singer, who competed on the 2022 series of the ITV talent competition, won over the
music mogul as he auditioned with a rendition of Sam Smith's song Writing's on the Wall. He went on to finish in third place, having amassed a legion of fans in the process. Tom made the brave move of giving up his teaching career to pursue music following the show and soon said 'I do'. The 26-year-old tied the knot with his partner Hannah just months after the show, following their five-year long romance. They met on a dating website back in 2017, and Hannah supported Tom during his Britain's Got Talent journey. However, just as they were about to set off on their once in a lifetime honeymoon, Simon gave Tom a call. He had impressed Simon so much, that he wanted him to compete on America's Got Talent All Stars series. Tom told The Mirror : "I was currently suit shopping for my wedding. Literally I just got sized up and I got a phone call from my manager saying an opportunity had come along. "'Simon has requested that you come over to America to do America's Got Talent, All stars, would you like to do it?' I said yes, and they said 'one caveat, if you get through to the final you've got to postpone your honeymoon'." Tom said he phoned his soon-to-be wife, and added: "I was like, 'please let me'. She was wonderful and she agreed. We postponed the honeymoon and I went out to America."

Luckily for his new wife, they were able to rearrange their special holiday to a few months later. "It was wonderful, it really, really, really was," Tom said. "It was simply just a case of phoning the booking company and saying, 'can we just postpone it just a little bit?' It cost us more money because it was big season at that point, but it was worthwhile. In fact, the weather was better. The week we were meant to go, it was horrible so it was a good
Job." Tom then got a call again to be invited back on Britain's Got Talent once more. He appeared on the 2023 series as Noddle the Cat. "When ITV phone you to come back onto the programme to sing, you don't say no," Tom confessed. "I was there and I gave my all for it. It wasn't me as a contestant, really, I'd done that. What it was it was me coming home to where it all started a year ago, showing the world what BGT can do for someone, , and having a fantastic time in the in the meantime." Asked if he will be making another appearance on the upcoming series, Tom teased: "I genuinely, genuinely, honestly don't know. If they invite me, I will be there. If there's any talks for me to be there, I'm 100% there so I will keep my fingers crossed. If not this year, I'll do it any year they want."
