New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has hinted that he might take over play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Mike Kafka next season. Daboll, who joined the Giants after four years as the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator, has mostly left play-calling to Kafka during his first two seasons as head coach. This approach has had mixed results, with the team making progress in the first year but regressing in the second. Next season could see the Giants join other teams whose coaches call plays from the sideline. Daboll believes about 20 of his fellow NFL coaches already do this. "It's something I'm looking into," he said on the team's official website at the NFL owners meeting. "I think there's 20 head coaches at this point in time that call plays in the league (either offensively or defensively)."

Football for the first time in 18 years. He became the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at
Alabama. Before that, Daboll was a graduate assistant for Nick Saban, the head coach of the Crimson Tide, at Michigan State. He also spent a season at William and Mary as a restricted earnings coach.
