With Easter just days away, everyone is scrambling to get their hands on the best chocolate treats to help them celebrate the end of lent and Easter Sunday. But for those of us who aren't fans of chocolate or simply have an intolerance to it, something that'll last us a little longer than chocolate is a Beauty Egg filled with all the latest viral, best-selling and gorgeous cosmetic products. And so you can imagine my excitement when I managed to get my hands on Glossybox's stunning looking limited edition beauty egg ahead of the bank holiday weekend to well and truly pamper myself. Costing £40, the GLOSSYBOX 2024 Easter Egg contains premium skincare and beauty products - from the likes of e.l.f, Guvu, Iconic
London, Bondi Sands, L'Oréal and more - whose total worth is over £164, with one product costing £10 more than the box itself. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Morning Matrix usually retails at £50 (for the deluxe size) and was one product, among many inside the egg, that I was so excited to try having heard incredible things - and I have to say, I was impressed. Oil scent as its cleansing balm . The 'miracle in a jar' cream felt glorious the first time I applied it and left me with a slight glowy and plumped up complexion. After a few weeks of using I noticed the faint lines on my forehead (from being a expressive person) were slightly less prominent and my skin felt firmer and silky. The only disappointing thing about this cream is its hefty price tag. When I finish this travel sized bottle, I'm certainly going to be saving up to treat myself to a full sized tube because it makes my skin look and feel lovely. And it didn't pile up underneath my make-up. - both with and without the use of e.l.f's Power Grip Primer, £5 , which also comes in the box. I'm a big fan of this primer so stocking up on this product, that really works in holding my face make-up in place all day long, was great! This Works' stress check sleep lotion - 9/10 Another favourite of mine from this haul was the This Works' stress check sleep lotion , which retails at £16. As someone who often struggles drifting off to sleep as well as sleeping the night through, I was intrigued to see if this lotion helped in any way. Smothering it over the top half of my body before bed, I was surprised that it did, in fact. After my first application I quickly fell asleep and woke up only once (I tend to wake up three to four times in a night) and, checking my health data from my smart watch, my sleep was good quality too. The This Work's Stress Check lotion really helped me sleep! (Image: Eve Rowlands) How? You might ask. Well, as stated by This Works, it seems to be a combination of stress-calming fragrances and oils that calm the skin and mind. Although the scent was rather overpowering, I was buzzing that my sleep was improved with this aid and continued using it throughout the week. Hangin'n
HAWAII Colour Eyeshadow Palette - 9/10 While the box is full of lovely goodies, a few stood out for me personally. As an eyeshadow lover, I was pleased to discover a full size eyeshadow palette by BH Cosmetics - its Hangin'n Hawaii Colour Eyeshadow Palette, £16. The warm, red, pink, bronze, golden and brown neutral colours were a bit of me and the real test was seeing how pigmented they were on application and their longevity. The only thing I'd change about this palette is having a compact mirror in the pack (Image: Eve Rowlands) Well, after testing it's safe to say I think I've found my new favourite palette thanks to Glossybox as the formulas are thick - i.e. no need for several layers of the product - and they last for hours on end - no touch up required. The first time I used it I put the eyeshadow on for a day out at 10am and upon my return at around 8:30pm, my eyeshadow was very much clinging to my eyelids still. I was buzzing. My favourite shade has to be the 'pineapple' which is a lovely light gold colour that sets off my hazel eyes nicely. Bondi Sands Lip Balm and Guvu Velvet Lip Cream - 10/10 The lip products in this set, too, are just lush. I am a lip balm girly - over gloss - and am a sucker for a bright lip and this set has both. The Bondi Sands Wild Strawberry Lip Balm, £4.96, smells divine and leaves your lips nourished not to mention protected from the sun with SPF50 while the Guvu Velvet Lip Cream is a Barbie bright pink shade that glides onto your lips effortlessly and feels... well.. as the name suggests, super velvety and lovely on the lips. It has a creamy texture (Image: Eve Rowlands) Using a lip-gloss style applicator, the formula is quick drying and doesn't transfer to your teeth (as some lippies can without doing the all important blot with a tissue). The pink colour doesn't fade over time either and remains bright and beautiful all day long. I loved how bright it was! (Image: Eve Rowlands) With the velvet lip cream being infused with bergamot, the scent of the lippy is relatively familiar - a sweet Lady Grey type scent that I'm not mad about. L'Oreal Professional Metal Detox Shampoo & Hair Mask - 6/10 One product that is for hair and didn't quite suit me (personally) is the L'Oreal Professional Metal Detox Shampoo & Hair Mask. T he formula is designed to protect and brighten colour treated hair - but my hair is practically back at it's natural, dark brunette shade now with minimal help from dye so it wasn't particularly needed. That being said, you can definitely tell is works at cleansing and the hair and scalp and my locks felt squeaky clean (albeit a bit knotty, but this was sorted out by the hair mask which left my hair smooth and glossy). Elsewhere in the box, beauty buffs are in for a treat with the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, £10.95, Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Session Extra Strong Hold Hairspray and Aimx Eye Revive Eye Mask The former is a powerful "triple-action manual, chemical and enzymatic exfoliating treatment" that works by reviving dull, aging, and congested complexions its hero ingredients Pumpkin Enzyme, Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Aluminum Oxide Crystals which I'm yet to try but am excited for the results - although it's recommended to limit sun exposure and amp up suncreen while using this product and for the week after due to its alpha hydroxy acid inclusion, which may increase skin sensitivity. As for the Revive Me under-eye mask, I'm yet to try it but am absolutely buzzing to as the reviews hail it for being a 'game changer' for puffy eyes. One said: "Amazing eye mask! Loved the instant hydrating effect. Game changer for my puffy eyes. Super easy to use and gives an instant comfort." The mask is calming and hydrating thanks to its ingredients of
SNOW mushrooms and terminalia arjuna extract, nourishing with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid and the heros allantoin and arginine help restore and refresh your eyes. Packaging - 10/10 Alongside all of these lovely products, the box in which they come is just as dreamy and I actually can't bring myself to put it in the recycling bin (it's made of cardboard). The lilac design is decorated in silver specks and features a pastel pink hombre effect that is just adorable. The packaging itself is gorgeous (Image: Eve Rowlands) Tied together with a ribbon, it's a beautiful gift anyone would be lucky to receive this Easter. But if these products aren't really cutting it for you, Lookfantastic and Boots have their own Easter Eggs for beauty lovers to enjoy that are packed with beautiful products - Lookfantastic's is £60 but worth £206 which Boots' is £45 and work £147.71.
