Spencer Matthews has hit back at female followers who he says express their concern about his appearance on a daily basis. The former Made in
Chelsea star, 35, is training for a world record endurance run and says he is the ‘healthiest [he’s] ever been’ – and yet his
Social Media page is flooded with
Women asking whether he’s okay. ‘Every single day on this platform, women write to me expressing concern for my appearance,’ he began in a lengthy post on
Instagram. ‘They say that I’m too thin and that I look sick… One asked why I’m “punishing my body” and most say “hope you’re ok??”‘ he revealed. ‘This is a quick note to say that your concern is misplaced and the delivery of that concern is unhealthy. I am fit, well, and above all, really happy. The podcaster continued: ‘In fact, I’m the healthiest I have ever been – enjoying a disciplined routine and am driven with clear goals, training for a world record endurance run which will hopefully raise a substantial amount of money for people who need it. ‘Training for this challenge is NOT punishment, it’s PROGRESS… ‘Please don’t mistake me pushing myself physically as being unhealthy… It’s not. It’s exciting and in my case, makes me feel alive and full of purpose. ‘Not once did I ever receive a single message of “concern” when I was a huge problem drinker – overweight and drastically unhealthy. I wouldn’t have wanted it then and I certainly don’t want it now. ‘It’s really simple – don’t comment on anyone’s appearance. If someone looks different there is probably a reason for that. ‘Mine is that I found a healthy lifestyle.’ Since leaving the Channel 4 reality show nine years ago, Spencer has been open about his tumultuous relationship with alcohol. Earlier this year, Spencer confessed he ‘could have died’ at the height of his drinking, when he would consume up to 10 pints of beer a day while working in the city as a trader. Appearing on Made in Chelsea exacerbated his problem, he said. In 2018 the father-of-three decided to quit alcohol after a moment of clarity when he found himself drinking alone when his wife

I remember waking up the next day and I thought, “I don’t need this in my life.”‘ He also admitted he ‘could have lost’ Vogue had he not turned his life around. Now, Spencer says he can drink in moderation. On his recent post My Therapist Ghosted Me podcaster and model Vogue showed her husband of six years some love, and commented: ‘I think you’re deadly ❤’ The couple co-host their popular podcast Spencer and Vogue, where they chat about their lives and marriage, often with many laughs.
