Festivals with 70s to 90s music icons you can still get tickets for
There’s still time to get tickets for the biggest UK festivals of 2024 (Picture: Redferns) 2024 promises to be a big year for live music in the UK with some of the biggest acts in the world playing some of their biggest concerts here for years. The likes of Stevie Nicks, Wet Wet Wet, and Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra, and many more, are off on country-wide tours in 2024, playing everywhere from London to Aberdeen and several towns and cities in between. On top of that, dozens of major music festivals have announced line-ups boasting some of the most biggest pop and alternative acts from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. And if you want to be there among thousands of others watching on, here’s all the information you need if you want your fix of 20th century pop nostalgia this summer. All Points East – August 16 to August 25 All Points East is one of the biggest alternative festivals in the UK (Picture: Creative Commons) All Points East begins on August 16, 2024 and runs until August 25 . The festival first opened in 2018 and has gone ahead every year since – except for 2020, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. All Points East has always been hosted at London’s Victoria Park, Hackney, and 2024 is no exception. Victoria Park is among the capital’s oldest public spaces. This year, 90s hip hop and rap legend Nas will take to the main stage, with other huge names from the alternative rock scene also performing on different days across the nine-day schedule. American 90s bands Pixies, Sleater-Kinney, and Teenage Fanclub are all set to play, while Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service are down to take over the main stage for a day to play two of their most celebrated albums back-to-back. More information on tickets, line-ups, and dates can be found here. Right now, general admission tickets are still available for around £80. Other tiers of tickets are available at varying prices. Bearded Theory – May 23 to May 26 The Derbyshire festival has been running for 16 years now (Picture: Bearded Theory) Bearded Theory begins on May 23, 2024 and runs until May 26 . The festival’s full name is Bearded Theory’s Spring Gathering, and it has been running since 2008. It is among one of the most celebrated music festivals in the UK, having won seven awards since its inception. This year, Bearded Theory will be hosted at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, which is roughly 20 miles south of Derby and 25 miles north of Birmingham. If you’re looking to get your 1980s and 1990s fix at the festival, look no further than American alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction and Manchester’s very own electronic legends 808 State. More information on tickets, line-ups, and dates can be found here. A three-day pass can be purchased for around £220. Other tiers of tickets are available at varying prices. Beautiful Days – August 16 to August 18 Beautiful Days just celebrated its 20th anniversary (Picture: Creative Commons) Beautiful Days festival begins on August 16 and runs until August 18 . Having celebrated its 20th year last summer, Beautiful Days is back, boasting a seriously nostalgic line-up for anyone from Generation X. As it always has done, Beautiful Days 2024 will be held at Escot Park in Devon. The park and gardens are just on the edge of the Blackdown Hills and roughly 10 miles from Exeter. Toyah Wilcox and husband Robert Fripp are playing The Big Top stage, while The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft will be playing the Main Stage. Meanwhile, 90s dance act Utah Saints also top the bill. More information on tickets, line-ups, and dates can be found here. Weekend camping tickets are available for £190. Other tiers of tickets are also still available to buy.
