Princess Kate has a 'close' circle surrounding her, which won't include
Prince Harry and
Meghan Markle as she undergoes
cancer treatment, a source has claimed. The Duke and
Duchess of Sussex issued a public statement following the news
BREAKING via a video message from Kate on Friday (March 22), and some experts said they also reached out to the Prince and Princess of Wales privately. The couple were said to have been kept in the dark, only finding out the news as it was revealed to the world publicly. Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith has explained that as the princess undergoes treatment and recovery, Kate won't be relying on Meghan and Harry, but will turn to her closest circle instead, including her husband

New York Times ' columnist Maureen Dowd: "Kate doesn’t need Harry and Meghan to console her. She has her parents and a sister, and she’s very close to King Charles." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's statement was released just hours after the news, which reads: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace." It is also thought that the Sussexes have "contacted" the Waleses "privately", according to ITV's royal editor Chris Ship. Ship wrote on X/Twitter : " Prince Harry has reached out to his brother, Prince William after learning of Kate’s cancer. Harry and Meghan have both been in touch with their brother/sister-in-law but did so privately. It not clear if that was a phone/video call or some messages of support." Kate revealed she is undergoing treatment in an emotional video released on Friday (March 22) . She spoke about the "huge shock" of the medical development and how her family has experienced an "incredibly tough couple of months" and at times her voice cracked with feeling. The princess was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery on January 16 and at the time her condition was thought to be non-cancerous but tests after the successful operation found cancer, the type of which has not been disclosed.
