Royal Family on Easter Sunday in a massive show of support for Kate Middleton who publicly announced she has been diagnosed with
cancer on Friday evening. The monarch, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, plans to attend the annual church service at St George's Chapel in Windsor next weekend. This comes after he expressed his pride in his "beloved" daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, for her bravery in discussing her own cancer diagnosis, the Mirror reports. The mother-of-three courageously spoke of "an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family", revealing the heart-wrenching moment she and William considered how to tell their young children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight and Prince Louis, five. The princess did not reveal what type of cancer she is suffering from, but confirmed she has begun a course of "preventive chemotherapy", which started in February.
Kensington Palace said Kate continued to have a "positive mindset for her recovery" and is in "good spirits". The princess said she had assured her children that she is "well and getting stronger every day". With the head of state and the future Queen both receiving treatment for cancer the Royal family faces an uncertain period but the monarchy is expected to rally round to support those at the heart of the institution. A Royal source said: "The King has been keeping in touch with the Princess of Wales from the moment she was admitted to hospital in January and throughout her current cancer treatment." "He is utterly determined to put on a show of unity for his family and reassure the public and wider world that the monarchy is stable, despite the current tumultuous period it is experiencing. Kate Middleton publicly announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in a televised video message on Friday evening "The King is very much hoping he will be able to make the Easter church service but will of make a final decision on the day." The monarch has reduced his duties and cut back on public appearances while he undergoes weekly treatment for cancer, which was revealed after he was admitted to hospital in January for an enlarged prostate. In his first public announcement since learning about his cancer diagnosis last month, Charles displayed gratitude for the support coming from the public. He said that this kind gesture gave him "the greatest comfort and encouragement". A video message from Kate moved millions of people globally and served as a beacon of hope for those living with cancer. Underneath a beautiful backdrop of blooming daffodils, she sat on a park bench to share her struggle, which she described as "a huge shock". She not only confirmed
BREAKING the news to their children personally with her husband, Prince William, but reassured them by saying: "I am going to be ok". Kate had been taken to hospital on January 16 for "major abdominal surgery" which ended up being successful. At the time of her surgery it was assumed the health issue was not cancerous because no tests had shown signs of the disease. Post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer though. Rumours about Kate began to circulate further after William suddenly withdrew from a memorial service for his godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece on February 27. It's now assumed that William's decision to skip the event relates to his wife's condition, but it's still unknown when the princess learned about the positive test for cancer. More speculation arose when the princess confessed to "editing" her official Mother's Day photograph which had irregularities. The princess has also been dealing with allegations revealed last week by The Mirror that three staff members at The
London Clinic, where she and the King were patients in January, tried to look at her private medical records. In a brave speech recorded by the BBC in Windsor on Wednesday, the princess gave a message of hope for others fighting their own battles, saying: "For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone." A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "His Majesty is 'so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did'."
