Piers Morgan blasted for ‘hypocritical’ Kate Middleton statement
After criticising other celebrities for their responses to Kate Middleton ’s cancer news, Piers Morgan has been called out for his own ‘hypocritical’ words. The 58-year-old journalist slammed various US talk show hosts like Andy Cohen, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver for their handling of the conspiracies around Kate’s whereabouts. Celebrities like Blake Lively have apologised for their involvement in the ‘Katespiricy’ memes but Piers disapproves of the rush of support for the Princess of Wales. Kate, 42, revealed her cancer diagnosis and shared she is undergoing chemotherapy as part of the treatment after weeks of speculation. ‘People on here shrieking “Leave Kate alone!” when they have spent the past few weeks spewing insane conspiracy theories about her is beyond parody,’ tweeted Piers. For good measure, he added: ‘Shut up, you shameless hypocrites’. However, he was quickly hit with replies reminding him he also did the same — as X user Mandy replied: ‘It would help if you looked in the mirror, Piers.🪞 ‘You were pressing the issue… Where is Kate?’ ‘You were one of them,’ added another follower as Shenna Moffat slammed him with a ‘Pot kettle black!’ ‘You are the biggest hypocrite and you have no shame,’ replied user Aramais which received 1,800 likes. Just last week, during an episode of Uncensored , Piers fanned flames with comments around ‘pretty alarming’ information given to him by insiders. The former Good Morning Britain host said: ‘I’ve been told some stuff that, if even half of it is true, it’s pretty alarming what is happening. I don’t know what to believe, nor do any of us – we’re not there.’ Piers Morgan eviscerates TV host for ‘distasteful’ mockery of Kate Middleton Kate has cancer and has been getting treatment since hospital stay Kate Middleton Actress joins stars supporting Princess of Wales amid cancer treatment Watch the emotional moment brave Kate reveals her cancer diagnosis to the world He added that while Kate ‘could be fine and doing well’, the Palace had ‘got it wrong’ when it came to squashing any conspiracy theories. Not satisfied with that he added that Kensington Palace ‘could be hiding something’, a sentiment he expressed in his New York Post column previously. Piers said: ‘But the conspiracy theories about Kate Middleton’s secret health crisis and disappearance from public life, made worse by the manipulated family photo she posted yesterday when added to the unsettling confusion over what cancer King Charles is suffering from and how serious his condition is, have shown that the old palace way of handling the media has become increasingly obsolete and unworkable.’ To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Before the cancer diagnosis was revealed, the presenter even said that his sympathy would ‘erode’ for Kate should the Palace have misled the public. ‘I feel very sorry for Kate that she’s had to go through whatever health issue she’s had, which has kept her away from public gaze, and duty, for so long,’ he wrote. ‘But my sympathy will erode if it turns out that she and the palace have deliberately misled the media and public about when the photo was taken to convey a false impression about her condition.’ He has since praised the handling of the conspiracies, calling Kate’s video ‘so effective and admirable’.
