Kate Middleton's brave admission she has been diagnosed with
cancer sent shockwaves around the world as a video announcement confirming the news was released by
Kensington Palace last night. The announcement was even more alarming to a number of famous faces and
Social Media commentators who have spent weeks making quips about the Princess of Wales ' health and absence from the spotlight. The rumour mill has been in over drive for weeks about Kate's health - fuelled by a controversial image of her released on Mother's Day and shaky phone footage of her visiting a farm shop with William, both of which conspiracists speculated had been faked by the palace. Gossip ranged from accusations about the royal couple's marriage, suggestions Kate had undergone extreme cosmetic surgery to suggestions she was gearing up to divorce her husband. Putting an end to the talk, Kate confirmed on Friday she had undergone major abdominal surgery with further tests revealing cancer was 'present'. The mum said she is now undergoing preventative chemotherapy and asked for privacy to recover with her family. Following the announcement a number of high profile took to social media to apologise for their part in fuelling the wild conspiracies, with many saying they were 'ashamed' of their actions as a delete-spree got underway. 'Just sending her so many prayers and good vibes — healthy vibes — and I do think she will have a full recovery." Speaking out on Friday night, Kate said: "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in
London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."
