Nancy Pelosi has been served with a subpoena “to produce documents” in a
California criminal case. The California Democrat informed the House of the subpoena Wednesday and her statement was read into the record by the House clerk, which is the custom when a chamber member is subpoenaed. “This is to notify you formally … that I … have been served with third party subpoenas from the prosecution and the defendant to produce documents in a criminal case and
United States District Court for the Northern District of California,” her statement said. Mrs. Pelosi said she decided that “compliance with the subpoenas is consistent with the privileges and of the House to the extent it requires production of non-privileged information.”
Fox News reported , citing “a source familiar with the situation,” that the subpoena was related to the trial of the man accused of assaulting Paul Pelosi in a home invasion last year. David DePape is scheduled to go on trial later this month. The
Democratic lawmaker’s office declined to comment officially. • Victor Morton can be reached at vmorton@washingtontimes.com . Copyright © 2023 The Washington Times, LLC.
